Crean de esta forma un paisaje musical profundo, sobre el cual la voz de Smith extiende torturadas letras introspectivas y nost\u00e1lgicas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">La tristeza y desesperanza que caracterizan esta obra aparecen desde las primeras l\u00edneas de la canci\u00f3n inicial, <strong>\u201cAlone\u201d,<\/strong> como un pre\u00e1mbulo a todo lo que viene:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">\u201cThis is the end<br>of every song that we sing. <br>The fire burned out to ash <br>and the stars grown dim with tears.\u201d\n\n[\u201cEste es el final \nde cada canci\u00f3n que cantamos.\nEl fuego se ha convertido en cenizas\ny las estrellas se han apagado con l\u00e1grimas.\u201d]<\/pre>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed wp-block-embed-youtube is-type-video is-provider-youtube epyt-figure\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><iframe  id=\"_ytid_42484\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"  data-origwidth=\"800\" data-origheight=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/sx9SVAtMkJM?enablejsapi=1&#038;autoplay=0&#038;cc_load_policy=0&#038;cc_lang_pref=&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;loop=0&#038;rel=1&#038;fs=1&#038;playsinline=0&#038;autohide=2&#038;theme=dark&#038;color=red&#038;controls=1&#038;disablekb=0&#038;\" class=\"__youtube_prefs__  no-lazyload\" title=\"YouTube player\"  allow=\"fullscreen; accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen data-no-lazy=\"1\" data-skipgform_ajax_framebjll=\"\"><\/iframe><\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Smith cuenta en una entrevista que compuso el \u00e1lbum en su totalidad en un per\u00edodo de duelo, luego de la muerte de sus padres y su hermano mayor, lo que adem\u00e1s lo llev\u00f3 a confrontar el hecho de que \u00e9l mismo, a sus 65 a\u00f1os, ha envejecido. Estos fuertes sentimientos se pueden percibir por todos los rincones del disco, donde cavilaciones sobre el paso del tiempo, la sensaci\u00f3n de p\u00e9rdida, y envejecer y morir, aparecen recurrentemente, como en la canci\u00f3n <strong>\"And Nothing is Forever\":<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">\u201cI know, I know that my world has grown old.<br>And nothing is forever.\u201d\n\n[\u201cS\u00e9, s\u00e9 que mi mundo ha envejecido.\nY nada es para siempre.\u201d] <\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">En la canci\u00f3n <strong>\u201cI Can Never Say Goodbye\u201d,<\/strong> Smith nos comparte un lamento sobre su mencionado hermano, mediante unas l\u00edneas bastante emotivas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">\u201cSomething wicked this way comes, <br>from out the cruel and treacherous night.<br>Something wicked this way comes,<br>to steal away my brother's lif\u0435.\u201d\n\n[\u201cAlgo maligno se acerca,\ndesde la cruel y traicionera noche.\nAlgo maligno se acerca,\npara robar la vida de mi hermano.\u201d]<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Pero no todas las canciones son tan lentas y sombr\u00edas. Hay un par de excepciones que Smith dice haber a\u00f1adido para hacer el \u00e1lbum m\u00e1s din\u00e1mico para los oyentes. Estas canciones, <strong>\u201cDrone:Nodrone\u201d<\/strong> y<strong>\u201cAll I ever Am\u201d,<\/strong> evocan un poco a algunos cortes m\u00e1s movidos de la discograf\u00eda de The Cure, sin llegar a ser el pop juguet\u00f3n de temas como <strong>\u201cFriday I\u2019m in Love\u201d<\/strong> o <strong>\u201cJust Like Heaven\u201d,<\/strong> algo que no encontrar\u00e1n aqu\u00ed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">El disco, de apenas 8 canciones, concluye con la canci\u00f3n m\u00e1s larga de la colecci\u00f3n, la apropiadamente titulada <strong>\u201cEndsong\u201d,<\/strong> que ostenta una duraci\u00f3n de diez minutos y medio. Es una recapitulaci\u00f3n de la esencia del \u00e1lbum, tanto musical como l\u00edricamente. Sin duda. Creo que canaliza perfectamente ese sonido de The Cure que a muchos nos ha hecho sentir, suspirar y sobre todo encontrar confort entre su manto de oscuridad. Quienes disfruten de discos como \u201cWish\u201d, \u201cBloodflowers\u201d, y por supuesto, \u201cDisintegration\u201d, estoy seguro que \u201cSongs of a Lost World\u201d les parecer\u00e1 una obra potencialmente significativa. Como la sensaci\u00f3n de reunirse con un viejo amor perdido.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He de mencionar que \u201cSongs of a Lost World\u201d es el primer disco de The Cure que cuenta con grabaciones del guitarrista Reeves Gabrels, quien ha estado con la banda desde el a\u00f1o 2012. Como dato interesante, para quien no lo sepa, Gabrels fue parte de la banda de David Bowie en los a\u00f1os 90, permaneciendo con Bowie poco m\u00e1s de una d\u00e9cada. \u00bfQui\u00e9n m\u00e1s puede presumir haber sido parte de la banda de Bowie, y luego ser miembro de The Cure? Impresionante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Para finalizar, Smith ha dicho que la banda ha grabado material suficiente para otro par de discos, que planean lanzar durante los siguientes a\u00f1os. \u00bfSe materializar\u00e1n? Supongo que el tiempo lo dir\u00e1.
